The Words You Speak Are Feeding You
What are you feeding yourself every day with your own mouth?
A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled. (Proverbs 18:20 NKJV).
Our words are seeds. Scripture teaches us that we will eat and be filled with what our mouths produce. This is not a suggestion, it’s a principle.
God, by His words, spoke the world into existence. And as those created in His image, our words carry power too. The garden we reap from tomorrow is being planted by what we say today.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21).
We know this verse, but we often miss the weight of it. Careless words wound. Unguarded speech destroys. And we don’t just influence others, we change atmospheres and perceptions. We will consume what we speak.
Our meals come from the way we speak about our spouse and loved ones. From the way we talk about our jobs when we are frustrated. From the quiet muttering under our breath and the internal commentary that eventually leaks out.
This is our daily diet.
What are you feeding yourself?
Not just the words spoken out loud, but the ones that show up when you’re tired, frustrated, or not paying attention.
If your prayers are asking God for peace, provision, restoration, healing, and stability, but your daily words are full of frustration, defeat, irritation, or criticism, then you are planting one field and praying for a different harvest.
According to Scripture, it doesn’t work that way.
God designed us with words that carry power. His word teaches us how to use them for life.
Are the words you are choosing nourishing you, or slowly draining the life out of you?
Lord, set a guard over our lips, and teach our hearts to speak life!

Thank you Mrs. Ramos
You’re welcome. 🙂
This was a wonderful word! So true and needed! Thank you.
Thanks Rena! 💜 Sometimes God gives us a word we need ourselves before we ever share it with anyone else. I’m grateful it spoke to you too.
